Every year, Black Friday and Cyber Monday roll around with endless plug-in sales, gear discounts, and mind-blowing bundles. It’s enough to make your head spin—trust me, I’ve been there, loading up my plug-in folder with every shiny new tool, only to realize a few months later… most of them are collecting digital dust.
This year, I want to give you my honest perspective: more plug-ins won't necessarily make your music better. In fact, plug-in overload can slow down your progress, overwhelm your creative flow, and distract you from learning the tools that really matter. So before you dive head-first into every Black Friday deal, here’s what I recommend:
1. Invest in Education First
Some of my most useful purchases each year aren’t flashy new effects or synths—they’re educational resources. Platforms like Soundgym and Tonegym offer ear training and music theory skills that actually level up your productions. If you want better mixes, these tools are a game-changer.
2. Prioritize Plug-ins That Expand Your Workflow
I still look forward to the Universal Audio “12 Days of UAD” sale every year, and there are always solid deals from Arturia, FabFilter, Soundtoys, Korg, and more. But I only buy plug-ins I know will fill a gap in my workflow or improve what I already do—not just for the sake of a discount.
3. Don’t Overlook Sample Packs
