IK Multimedia T-Racks 6 Max Review: Can It Replace Analog Gear?

Mastering is the final hurdle in any production — and for many producers, it’s the hardest one to cross without access to expensive analog gear. That’s exactly why I decided to take on a challenge: could I master a full club track using only the IK Multimedia T-Racks 6 Max suite?

In this video, I take a finished mix and rebuild my entire mastering chain inside T-Racks, testing how close I can get to my hybrid setup. You’ll see the complete process, from setting up the Clip vs Master workflow (which initially threw me off) to dialing in EQ moves, compression, and final limiting.

The Pultec EQP-1A and Bus Compressor were the biggest surprises — they both respond in a way that feels musical and familiar, especially when pushed. But like any plugin workflow, there are tradeoffs. You lose a bit of that tactile, analog “depth,” and managing gain staging inside the suite takes some getting used to. Still, for an all-in-one mastering system, it’s far more capable than I expected.

I also cover smaller but important details, like the Mono button location, my preferred RMS target for headroom, and how I use the Brickwall Limiter to get a competitive but dynamic finish.

If you’re a producer or mastering engineer looking to expand your toolkit — or you just want to see how a professional approaches mastering in the box — this review will give you real-world context you can apply immediately.
