How I’m Still Getting DJ Remixes on SoundCloud (2025 Edition – Risks & Results)

Uploading remixes or bootlegs to SoundCloud is tougher than ever—and what worked last year might not work today. Here’s what happened when one blew up for me in 2025, what got blocked, and what’s actually working right now.

My Big Remix Win & Sudden Strike

Earlier this year, I released a Marshall Jefferson remix that completely took off—it hit #2 on the Tech House Top 100 and #29 overall on HypedIt. It stayed in the charts for months and was easily my best-performing remix ever.
But success came with a price. Not long after posting a thank-you video for fans, I got an email from SoundCloud: copyright strike. The track was gone, the video got muted, and my Freshcoar account was suddenly one strike away from being permanently banned.

It’s a harsh reminder that even if your remix gains traction, it only takes one automated takedown to end the run overnight.

Even Legit Uploads Get Flagged

The crazy part? Even legit remixes or label-cleared content can get caught. My Chris Lake remix got flagged as a false positive for an unrelated track—completely incorrect, yet still enough to trigger SoundCloud’s system. Platforms like HypedIt are also tightening policies and requiring consent forms for uploads to cover themselves.

Old Tricks that Still Work

Back in 2021, I shared a method that worked surprisingly well to slip past SoundCloud’s ID system—and it’s still effective sometimes.
If you haven’t seen that video, go check it out here. In it, I talk about simple pitch and format tricks (using tools like Little AlterBoy) that used to help producers keep remixes alive.

2025 Tactics That Actually Help

SoundCloud’s detection system is smarter than ever, even catching small stems. But there are a few tactics that still make a difference:

  • Adding silence at the end (and sometimes beginning) of a track.

  • Filtering intros or outros to confuse audio fingerprints.

  • Snippet testing before a full upload.

  • Heavy reverb or “clouding” the sound to reduce match accuracy.

None of these are bulletproof, but they can help you test the limits—if you’re okay with the risk.

Should You Risk It?

Here’s the truth: every DJ who posts bootlegs or remixes on SoundCloud is gambling. If your account means something to you, make a backup or create a dedicated bootleg account.
And if the stress of losing your work outweighs the views—don’t do it.
But for those still chasing that viral remix moment, just be smart, experiment carefully, and always have a plan B.

Final Thoughts

SoundCloud isn’t the same platform it was even two years ago. But with a little creativity, risk management, and the right community around you, you can still make your remixes heard in 2025—without losing everything in the process.
